Just got my car back today from John Eagle Acura. GSS-342 pump installed w/ JRSC total $3467, which was the "agreed" price. Cashier brought it up to $36xx ... anyways, after little chat with them, they manipulated the numbers a little and brought it back down. Hmm...

I called Jackson Racing concerning about the rebate, they said I need a copy of receipt/honda club card/and JRSC warranty card. Urgh, never got the warranty card so I went back to JEA and they said they "couldn't find it" WTF ??? Anyways, more chat....then they finally called the guy who order all these JRSC to send them one for me. will see...

Anyhow, the quality of the installation was EXCELLENT (the mechanic name is Joel K.) Look for him if you are having yours install there.

Wow...the car felt GREAT. Tons of low end...pull all the way until redline..wowoowow... I'm taking it easy for now until I get my ZFR7F-11 installed Currently still running on stock platinum

I have a question though...the mechanic set the fuel pressure at 60 psi and timing at 12 degrees...no pinging.. is this correct? Is it too high?

I called JR and the rep said it's FINE if there is no pinging..you want to get the highest timing to max your power..what do you guys think???

Yeah, if you're not getting any pinging then it's fine but 12 deg seems a lot, at least for me. I'm at 9.5 deg using 92 octane.

I've got o make a trip back to JEA before my factory warranty runs aout (a little over 2 months and 2K miles ) so I'll know to ask to speak to joel and have him check my car out. (The tech who did my install is no longer with them.) I'm relieved you are pleased with his work.


12 degrees of timing and NO PING - WOW, I'm jealous - I have 8-9 degrees and STILL get some ping

Hey GSRDPM (tom), well the tech (Joel at JEA)
set it at and he test drive it, he said there is no ping. However, this morning, I took my great uncle to the Intercontinental airport and w/ A/C on, windows closed etc. at every red light, when starting off, each gear gave me a small buzz lasted for 1/2 sec. I'm not sure if that is pinging or what...so I retarded it some more to be on the safe side (I don't have a timing light so I just retarded it blind..moved it about 2 mm)

Which brings me to a question for you (or anyone)...what is pinging sounds like? And is it constant buzz (or whatever the sound is) or instantaneous. Please let me know.
Also, is there a way of knowing if your car pings for sure rather than just "listening"?

gsrev, I'd love to get them from you. Gosh, Pepboys charges me $3.10 a piece plus tax plus special order charges...I'm sorry I can't make it out this weekends. I'm all tied up with the project i need to complete this week (school related).

Yeah, I like the analogy comparing pinging to shaking a can of spray paint. the sound is distant and the frequency fast and irregular. I hear it best with either the windows up and the stereo and A/C off or with the windows down and passing through a tunnel or next to a hard surface - seems to reflect the sound back at you.

I know it's pinging when I hear it AND the J&S knock monitor is lighting up.

For me it's most noticable in part throttle 3rd gear acceleration runs from about 3-4K.

I just threw some octane boost into the tank in preparation for the SCCA autocross tomorrow morning at the HPD academy. Judging from your schedule, I guess you can't make it.

Alex and I should be running in the morning:

Alex usually runs STU and I am running E-Mod.

I could run in Street Mod, but they are running in the afternoon groups and:

1. I can;t be there late tomorrow.
2. It's just to d*mn HOT out here!!!!

Hmm..weird..I retarded the timing some more...(don't ahve the timing light) but I moved the distributor back about 4 mm...hopefully it'll go away (maybe what I'm hearing is NOT pinging at all).

Here is what I heard. When put in first and start moving (from a stand still), I hear a very slight BRRRRR which is kind of hard to describe and it last for about 1/4 of a second. Same thing will happen with 2nd, 3rd and fourth. Is it pinging?
